Extended House in Dublin
This project involved the reorganization of an existing 19th century semi-detached redbrick house, along with the addition of a white brick kitchen and dining room to the rear.
Circular angled roof-lights are orientated to the south to direct light to kitchen worktops whilst a white terrazzo floor further lightens the room. Both the kitchen cabinets and the dining table were designed by the architects.
The extension is arranged to allow a small courtyard bring light to the rear windows of the original house, whilst preserving a small rear garden.
The extension has a broken plan with the main kitchen area dropped three steps to give a generous ceiling height. A white brick was chosen internally and externally for the extension to reflect light and bring texture to the new spaces.
